The Tasmanian Little Sabi Is One of This Year’s Most Beautiful Tiny Homes

Beyond specs, it’s the interior design that makes a house on wheels truly feel like home and express its unique personality. This brand-new tiny home built in Tasmania was a labor of love that began a year ago and was recently completed. It’s currently looking for its owner, someone who can fully appreciate this work of art on wheels and its incredible attention to detail.

Artisan Tiny Homes is the perfect name for this Australian builder nestled in the stunning landscapes of Tasmania. Every single tiny home that left this workshop is a jewel, not only built to the highest standards, but exquisitely furnished and styled. Kerrie, the extremely talented soul behind these gorgeous builds has the eye of an artist and the magical touch of a visual storyteller.

Little Sabi, her most recent completed project, became a labor of love. Despite the health issues that required Kerrie and her partner to step back for a while, she didn’t abandon this project. This year, Little Sabi was successfully completed, and it’s just as stunning and inviting as all her creations, but even more inspiring due to the special circumstances.

A perfect mobile home for two, this eight-meter (26.2 feet) abode boasts one loft bedroom and an open-plan ground-level configuration with a superb lounge, a compact kitchen, and a perfectly appointed bathroom/laundry. Even from the outside, Little Sabi catches the eye with its rich textures and vibrant color palette.

Grey corrugated tin and white flat pan tin are combined with natural-toned Cypress pine timber inserts for a visually impactful contrast. The white window frames also stand out against the all-black sliding door entrance. Instead of basic exterior lights, Little Sabi flaunts custom carriage lights in black, and the Tree of Life decoration near the entrance is the perfect final touch – a beautiful symbol and a celebration of life.

Inside, a similar combination of cool greys, earthy orange tones, and natural timber creates a wonderful, inviting ambiance, far from the trendy clean aesthetic and rigid minimalism. Little Sabi is full of color and personality, but in a way that evokes just as much peace and comfort as neutral-toned interiors.

The Tassie oak ceiling in a velvet finish, matched by the custom sofa from the same wood, is one of the most beautiful features, along with the copper-toned feature wall in the lounge. These bold, earthy colors don’t make the space seem smaller, because Little Sabi boasts a generous height of more than four meters (4.3 meters/14.1 feet).

On the contrary, the entire ground level looks remarkably airy and bright, particularly the lounge area, which is strategically surrounded by windows on all three sides, in addition to the glass entrance doors being nearby. The oversized picture window in the middle is a signature feature in many tiny homes by this Tasmanian builder. The ensemble creates a perfect lounge ambiance with beautiful views, abundant sunshine, and seamless flow.

The generous height allows for decorative features even above the windows, like the display shelves in the lounge that add character to this elegant and warm relaxation area. There’s also room for a full-height timber bookcase with wide shelves.

One of Little Sabi’s most unique and quirky features is the custom staircase. It looks nothing like classic versions and, most importantly, it incorporates a full-size storage unit almost as big as kitchen. This quirky structure combines a couple of wide treads that have built-in storage space with a floating stainless steel section that has timber treads. These floating treads are built into a spacious storage unit with a timber countertop and a mix of closed and open shelves.

The ingenious and beautifully crafted staircase comes with a steel handrail on the wall, which matches the safety railing of the loft. The entire structure ensures easy and comfortable access to and from the loft on a regular basis, and at the same time, it allows for generous kitchen storage. This section of the kitchen is also meant to house the fridge and the microwave, while the other section incorporates the gas stove, oven, and sink, plus a dishwasher drawer and a steam vent.

Little Sabi also hides a special area for dining. The round table with two chairs is an optional feature, but a welcome one. It fits perfectly between the lounge and the kitchen, close enough to the entrance for a nice view and easy access. As you can tell, this tiny home is equipped for long-term accommodation, which typically includes smart storage solutions and all the basic appliances. The same goes for the bathroom, with a dedicated space and storage for laundry needs.

The full-size shower features beautiful Denim blue and grey tile (similar ones are used for the partial kitchen backsplash), and the solid timber vanity top with an open shelf underneath is much more interesting and unique than a standard vanity. Each living/service area inside this home has its own storage solutions, and the cohesive, detail-oriented styling brings everything together.

Little Sabi can accommodate at least two people in its king loft with generous floor space and two big windows. The downstairs lounge can also provide additional accommodation. Custom light fixtures, like the pendant ones in the kitchen, as well as all the lounge cushions, are included.

From the design and craftsmanship to the beautiful materials and unique décor, Little Sabi is a work of art and whoever ends up grabbing it (for as little as AUD 149,000/$98,400) is a lucky owner.
