Brand-New Yin Yang Is the Most Luxurious Japanese-Style Tiny Home

The Yin Yang tiny home boasts a smart, sophisticated layout and a modern Japanese style

Just as the Yin-Yang symbol represents the two contrasting life forces that create absolute harmony, this brand-new house on wheels merges two visions that seem contradictory into a stunning design; rarely have we seen a tiny home that integrates modern Japanese minimalism and luxurious, contemporary amenities in such a well-balanced formula. This could easily be one of this year’s best homes on wheels.

The super-talented folks at Uber Tiny Homes in New South Wales, Australia, have done it again. They just unleashed on the market a stunning new design that has pretty much everything it takes to become a crowd favorite. It’s spacious, it has two elegant loft bedrooms with a connecting walkway, a modern kitchen with clever bistro-style dining, and a deluxe bathroom with a full-size bathtub.

And it’s not just about the luxurious amenities – this mobile home is the perfect rendition of a Japanese minimalist abode, where the art of simplicity meets understated elegance. It just doesn’t get better than that. Of course, the only bad news for folks in the US is that they’ll have to admire it purely for inspiration and hope to find something similar.

You’ll see that the Yin Yang brings Japanese-style elements to date, but also keeps its undeniable Aussie DNA. For instance, the exterior has that rugged, almost industrial look of Aussie tiny homes due to the metal siding and stained Weathertex, but the end walls display the traditional Shou Sugi Ban (an ancient Japanese technique based on charred wood) look and texture, thanks to a special finish.

The flat roof is another exterior feature that defines most Aussie tiny homes, in contrast to the A-frame cabin styles of Europe and North America. You’ll also notice a bump-out at one of the ends. That one was deliberately added to make room for a spacious bathroom with a full-size bathtub, one of the home’s most indulgent features. Here, customers have the option to acid-etch the window for more privacy.

At the opposite end, the Yin Yang has tiny doors right under the kitchen window for easy access to storage. Lastly, in terms of exterior features, an optional deck would be the perfect final touch to further enhance the indoor/outdoor ambiance that makes this home a lovely oasis for connecting with nature. There’s even an adorable bistro-style dining area built into the kitchen, meaning that a breakfast bar is placed under a big, fully opening window to allow easy outdoor access.

In other words, future owners can enjoy indoor/outdoor dining when the weather is fine. Both the breakfast bar and this style of dining hint at the home’s Aussie origins. The breakfast bar is an integral part of the U-shaped kitchen with lavish countertop space and more cabinetry than you could ask for in a tiny home. Full-size appliances fit in perfectly, while small windows in strategic spots keep the area connected to the natural surroundings.

Inside this dual-loft house on wheels, the staircase doubles as an elegant partition between the lounge and the kitchen. If it includes the timber handrail section along the lounge (one of the customizations), the separation is even more clearly defined, but still unobtrusive. Only one staircase is enough to access both bedrooms, thanks to the beautiful walkway that connects the lofts.

This walkway also creates a more secluded, intimate nook for the lounge sofa, instead of having everything in the open. The lounge itself looks and feels like a modern Japanese sanctuary. It’s intimate, yet still open to the outside, filled with natural light and exuding tranquility. A massive L-shaped sofa with built-in storage drawers (another possible customization) creates a safe, welcoming space for relaxation, taking in the view, and even socializing.

Behind a space-saving sliding door, the Yin and Yang hides a remarkably sophisticated bathroom. First of all, it’s spacious enough to include laundry amenities and well-organized storage, which is already a big plus for a home on wheels. Secondly, it offers the indulgent experience of a glamping spa. That’s thanks to the full-size bathtub with a shower, an elegant glass panel and a big window.

The full-size vanity with a generous countertop also contributes to the deluxe experience. As for the toilet, customers can pick their favorite, whether it’s a conventional model or any sustainable alternative. While the ground floor is packed with great amenities, the loft area ensures the perfect ambiance for rest and relaxation. The bigger bedroom can accommodate two guests, and the smaller one has a single bed.

Both rooms are easily accessible and have a comfortable height thanks to the built-in walkway, and they feature full-size cabinets adapted to each room’s floor space. An oversized window keeps the walkway between the two rooms bright and airy, while also boosting natural light throughout the home. A minimalist safety rail is the final touch for a loft floor that stays luminous and open, in a way that blends in harmoniously with the overall design.

All these excellent design features and elegant amenities are carefully intertwined in a tiny home that is 9.6 meters (31 feet) long, 3 meters (9.8 feet) wide, and 4.6 meters (15 feet) high. It offers versatile accommodation for up to three people, it’s meant for long-term living, and is fully customizable (although we believe that the Japandi style brings out its qualities in the best way).

The new Yin Yang tiny home is currently up for grabs at Uber Tiny Homes, with pricing starting at AUD 185,000 ($122,000) for the turnkey version.
