If you’ve ever dreamed of a tiny home that is not only fully functional for everyday living but also feels like a sanctuary, where every detail is designed with intention and every corner whispers luxury, this model might be what you’re looking for.
Built by Modern Tiny Living, a talented Ohio-based builder renowned for its impeccable craftsmanship and design innovation, this compact dwelling stands out with its contemporary aesthetics and luxurious styling. It’s part of the company’s beloved Kokosing model family, but Rivendell takes customization to a whole new level, blending form and function in unexpected ways.
The name “Rivendell” was chosen by its owner and is a nod to the fictional Elven settlement in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings universe, described as a hidden valley and a haven of sanctuary and magic. Looking at the pictures of the design, it’s easy to see why.
This beautiful, contemporary home gives off personal retreat vibes, a cozy haven that feels removed from the chaos of everyday life. But despite its modest footprint, Rivendell is completely capable of accommodating everything a modern lifestyle demands – from a chef-worthy kitchen to a versatile living area and a comfortable lofted bedroom.
Set on a double-axle trailer with a lightweight yet sturdy steel frame, this tiny home blends craftsmanship and charm in a way that feels anything but small. The exterior is clad in sleek LP Vertical Smart Siding in driftwood stain, paired with an aluminum gable roof, and a generous exterior storage box is included for added practicality.
Rivendell’s interior is a masterpiece of organization and functionality. It greets you with both warmth and brightness due to the combination of white poplar tongue-and-groove walls and engineered acacia hardwood floors. The color palette – a sophisticated mix of crisp whites, deep blue cabinetry and upholstery, and warm wood accents – creates a calm, inviting atmosphere, while the multitude of windows make the space feel airy.
The highlight of this tiny house is its raised living room area, a signature feature of the Kokosing line that’s been enhanced in this case with clever upgrades. Elevated above the main floor, it is a social zone with a U-shaped sofa surrounded by windows that can serve as a lounge, guest sleeping area, and hidden storage hub.
The sofa benches come with integrated storage, and there are additional built-in compartments under the platform. All this storage space is extremely helpful for a full-time tiny house, providing ample space to keep all your belongings organized. Plush cushions create a welcoming spot to relax, host friends, or settle in for a cozy evening, while the all-around windows let in substantial natural light and fresh air during the day.
For a home that is only 24 feet long, the kitchen is nothing short of remarkable. Thoughtfully laid out along a single wall, it features marbled quartz countertops, a full-sized stainless steel refrigerator, and a farmhouse sink that adds a rustic touch. Modern appliances, including a convection oven, a two-burner cooktop, and a microwave, make cooking at home easy and pleasant.
Another standout feature is the fold-down breakfast nook across from the kitchen, which offers a nice spot for meals or remote work. It is positioned right under a large pass-through window that connects the indoors with the outdoors. Apart from affording beautiful views and letting natural light in, this window can also be used for serving drinks to people gathered outside, possibly on an optional deck. It’s small design details like this that make Rivendell shine.
Storage space abounds in this central area of the house as well. The kitchen has plenty of base and overhead cabinets, supplemented by two ingenious drop-down compartments with shelving above the dining nook and the storage-integrated stairs.
As it usually happens in small homes, the bathroom is rather compact. But in this case, it can be best described as “luxury snug,” with refined features such as nickel coin mosaic floor, contrasting tile shower, a blue vanity sink, and a composting toilet. It truly feels indulgent and every square foot is cleverly utilized to offer all the needed facilities as well as plenty of room for getting ready for the day.
In terms of accommodation, Rivendell is a one-bedroom home best suited for couples, but the convertible lounge can sleep two more people when necessary. The lofted master bedroom, accessed via the storage staircase with safety railing, is designed as a serene retreat and feels surprisingly spacious.
A king-sized bed dominates the space, flanked by large windows that create a bright, airy nook for rest and relaxation. Built-in storage keeps the loft clutter-free, while generous headroom and walk-around space give it the feel of a traditional bedroom rather than a cramped loft.
Small-scale living often implies cutting corners, but Rivendell proves that size doesn’t have to limit comfort. With its thoughtful design, luxurious finishes, and uncompromised functionality, this custom tiny home perfectly embodies the essence of tiny living done right.
